Encode your video

easy video encoding tutorial

How to proceed

Metavision recommands to install Handbrake.

You can download it here

  1. Once you have downloaded the software, install it on your computer. The software will guide you through the necessary process.
  2. When you are finished, launch the Handbrake application.
  3. Click on ‘Open source’ and choose the video you want to encode. Then check that the source is ok and specify a directory and a name for the encoded video:
  4. Choose the ‘Fast 1080p30’ preset (you can customize it later):
  5. Under the ‘Dimensions’ tab choose the size (in pixels) of your video. Pay attention to the ‘Pixel Aspect’, we advise you to always keep it at 1:1. If necessary, choose ‘customize’ under ‘Anamorphic’ and under ‘Limit of resolution’.
At the top right, you can choose (see next image below) the seconds of video you want to encode (to cut the beginning or the end of the video for example):
  6. Under the ‘Video’ tab, choose (or leave) the H.264 (x264) encoder and the Frame rate at 30.
  7. Finally, go back to the ‘Summary’ tab and click on ‘Start’. If needed, you can still change the name of the video that Handbrake will generate.
  8. Once the encoding is complete, you can upload the video to MyCast.
